The GRFF is held at the Celebration Cinemas from
August 25‐29, 2010. Films will be showing throughout the day and evening with special VIP events on select evenings. Student, filmmaker and community workshops, along with location tours, will take place during the day on Thursday and Friday. The awards ceremony/gala takes place in the main ballroom at the JW Marriott on Friday evening. The Awards gala is designed to not only recognize excellence in film, but to award an alumni scholarship to the winning alumni script.

The first‐of‐its‐kind production grant will be awarded to an alumnus of 3 years or less (from his alma mater). Qualifications include a completed script, synopsis and treatment. A working budget, and demo reel of previous work (semi‐professional or student). The short film must be shot in Michigan and completed in time to be shown at the 2011 GRFF.

The GRFF will administer the production grant as a reimbursement of expenses upon project completion, or guarantee of payment to select vendors during production process.

The Grand Rapids Film Festival has applied for 501c3 status is awaiting final approval.

The Grand Rapids Film Festival is the co‐creation of Corey Niemchick, John Evans and Patty Riva. Corey Niemchick and John Evans are co‐owners of Storytelling Pictures; a film and video production company based in Grand Rapids, Michigan whose national and international work includes non‐profit and corporate clients such as Amway, Meijer, Bissell, GFS, Dow, Detroit Children’s Hospital, The City of Grand Rapids, Family Life Today, Billy Graham organization and Right to Life to name a few.

Storytelling Pictures also produced the multi‐international award winning documentary’s “The Reckoning: Remembering the Dutch Resistance,” and “Somebody’s Daughter: A journey to Freedom from Pornagraphy.”

Arts and cultural offerings have been shown to increase a communities' quality of life; arts that reflect a communities values and ideals. The statistics are overwhelming that the most attended – the most profitable – movies that filmmakers’ produce are those that are family oriented.
